The Craft Shop at Matakana Country Park is an artists' co-operative managed and operated by artists for artists.

The Craft Shop originated in Matakana, then called Craft Co-op, in the mid 1980, founded by people selling their wares from market stalls. They worked hard to turn the old dairy factory into a craft shop.
In the mid 90ties it moved from there to Sheepworld and finally, in 2006, to the Matakana Country Park.

The Craft Shop is located in a former potter's studio on the beautiful grounds of the Matakana Country Park.
The shop shares the park with an art gallery, a historic church, a restaurant and a café.
A children's playground is also here and assorted farm animals can be hanfed with food available at the park.

There are currently about 30 members in the Craft Shop, of which 20 are involved in the day to day running of the shop.

Members create arts and crafts suitable for gift giving, home décor, and souvenirs including greeting cards, paintings, wood ware, knitting, sewing, pottery, photography and more.
On behalf of the artist, the Craft Shop promotes itself and displays the work of its members in a retail outlet which is open seven days a week.

The Craft Shop is always seeking new talent and new products. If you are interested in an opportunity to market your wares, please click here.
